"I sincerely believe that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale."

“If you look at the unemployment numbers ... the fragility of the financial system and the fact that it’s an international system, the recession is a big problem, and it’s going to get worse”

“This is America. We don't disparage wealth. We don't begrudge anybody for achieving success. And we believe that success should be rewarded. But what gets people upset – and rightfully so – are executives being rewarded for failure. Especially when those rewards are subsidized by U.S. taxpayers.”
~ President Barack Obama

“America is the greatest, freest and most decent society in existence. It is an oasis of goodness in a desert of cynicism and barbarism. This country, once an experiment unique in the world, is now the last best hope for the world.”

“I read the article on H1-B visas and how US companies are taking US jobs and giving them to outsource companies. I was directly affected by this last year while working for Washington Mutual Bank. I was an enterprise architect in charge of developing an overseas conduit for foreign workers to use internal systems securely while doing internal job functions. After the system was in place and more than 3000 jobs were offloaded, management decided that now the work I was doing could be done cheaper by offshore workers, specifically TATA, Wipro, etc. I agree that something needs to be done. Not only are american jobs being sent overseas but WAMU's practice of offshoring loan processing information goes way overboard. They are putting sensitive personal information, i.e social security numbers, loan numbers, etc, in the hands of people who live in a country where less than 10% of identity theft is prosecuted.”
~Ken Wallentine, laid off US worker, 5/25/2007

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage.”
~ Alexander Tyler
